First Day of a New Quarter. Here’s a Simple Marketing Checkup

Google your business.

Google your business on a different computer than you usually use. (Or use an Incognito window, but a different computer is better.)

1. Check your Google presence.

Does your business appear on the right side of Google? (That’s your Google Business Profile.)

Are you on the map?

Do you own your Google Business Profile?

Are your phone number, location, hours, and website linked correctly?

Are the pictures decent?

How’s your star rating? When was the last time you got a review?

Are there any silly errors?

2. Call your office. (Yes, actually do it… trust me.)

From your Google listing, click the phone icon. Or, even better, have a friend or family member call.

Does the call go through?

Does it get answered?

Bonus: Have them ask some basic questions like, “What are your hours?” or “How do I meet with XXXX?”

Test your staff!

3. Look at your website.

From your Google listing, click the website link.

Does it load quickly?

Is the website 100% working correctly?

If you click the buttons, do they work?

Fill out the contact form and make sure you get notified. (Yes, actually do it.)

4. Check your social media.

Is your social media linked in your Google Business Profile?

Click each social media account you use. Are they connected to the right accounts?

Are the pictures decent?

When’s the last time you posted?

You look out of business if you’re not posting at least every once in a while. These don’t need to win Pulitzer Prizes—just post something to show you’re alive.

BONUS:

On a different computer than you usually use (or in an Incognito window, but again, it’s not as good), go to Google.

Type:

“Best [insert your service here] in [insert your area here]”

If you are not in that answer…

we should chat.
